5 Days in Washington DC!

We cannot wait to take the kids to Washington DC this Spring Break. Unfortunately, we may miss the cherry blossoms, but we have to work around the kids’ school schedule. DC is such a kid friendly city, and a great place for adults too. You do have to plan some things ahead of time since some sights require reservations and some even require a background check. If you plan a couple of months in advance, you will be fine. Here is my 5-day itinerary, and we can’t wait!!

Day 1:
  • U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing FREE Open M-F at 9AM (tours available)
  • Jefferson Memorial
  • MLK Memorial
  • Lincoln Memorial
  • National World War II Memorial
  • MAKE RESERVATIONS: United States Holocaust Memorial Museum – these slots book up fast.
  • Washington Monument
Day 2:
  • The US Botanic Garden FREE Open 10-5:30 everyday
  • Library of Congress FREE Open 8:30-5 M-Sat.
  • National Air and Space Museum FREE Open 10-5:30 everyday
Day 3:
  • Georgetown University
  • Embassy Row – about a 2-mile walk
  • The George Washington University
  • Albert Einstein Memorial
  • Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Day 4:
  • MAKE RESERVATIONS: The Pentagon - One hour tour. Book up to 90 days early. Need to arrive 60 min before your tour.
  • Arlington National Cemetery
  • Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History FREE Open 10-5:30 everyday
  • International Spy Museum $15 kids and $25 adults
Day 5:
  • National Museum of American History FREE Open 10-5:30 everyday
  • MAKE RESERVATIONS: U.S. Capitol Building FREE (tours available and last about an hour)
  • United States Supreme Court Building FREE Open 9-4:30 M-F No guided tour, but you can witness court in session (3 min viewing line if you want a quick look). Line starts at 10AM.
