A Mom's New Year
Happy New Year!! Yes, it’s September but this is really the time for Mom’s to make resolutions since the kids are heading back to school. This is the time when schedules change and new habits can be formed. This is the time when the summer bod I worked so hard for has morphed into the BBQ & beer bod of the end of summer. Here are some resolutions I will be making...
MEAL PLANS: ok, for real, this year I will be organizing meal plans and planning healthy meals for my whole family. I will shop and food prep on Monday. All leftovers will have purpose and we will have minimal food waste in our household. When you open my fridge you will see matching, labeled containers of lunches, dinners, and snacks. We will eat well, it will all be delicious, and it will all easily happen throughout the week due to my careful planning and preparation on Monday.
I WILL GET FIT: I will now have a new exercise routine to go along with my new, healthy eating plan (see above.) This new exercise routine will give me the best Back To School Bod you can achieve in your 40’s. I will be fit and will have boundless energy.
CHORE CHARTS: my little darlings will finally start pulling their weight within our household. I will have organized charts for each kid outlining their chores for the day. They will, of course, do said chores in a timely fashion and we will live clutter free while they learn personal responsibility. I will create my own schedule of daily household responsibilities that will make our home always clean, tidy, and ready for guests, will keep me on top of laundry, and will bring a sense of order to all cabinets and drawers in our home. Marie Kondo will be high fiving me.
TIME MANAGEMENT: I will be sure to organize our schedules so that we limit backtracking. I will be totally on it when it comes to participating in carpools so that I am not backtracking all over the 3 mile radius around our home, helping the environment- BONUS! I will make time for my children to read 30 min per day in a soothing, quiet environment. My husband and I will have date nights every other Saturday.
BEDTIMES: we will all go to bed at specific times, without any drama, so that we can get 8-10 hours of solid sleep and wake up refreshed.
MORNING ROUTINE: alarms will be set and we will rise refreshed. Our mornings will run smoothly and we will be out the door and ready to start our days without tension. Lunches will have been made the night before giving us time to eat a healthy breakfast and make sure backpacks contain completed homework.
I am aware that these are big dreams, my friends, fingers crossed! Happy New Year to you and yours! Wishing you the best 2017-18!
