A Puppy Around Christmas Time

A puppy around Christmas is a terrific idea and a horrible idea. Puppies take a lot of work and attention. They chew everything. But they are also adorable and fun around the Christmas season. There is nothing better than Christmas pictures with a puppy. But, you have to keep a close eye on them and even then you are going to lose something unexpected.

Certain types of dogs are worse than others. We just got a golden retriever and they have a soft mouth, but they still chew. We keep a very close eye on our little guy, but we lost track of him for a few minutes and next thing you know the lights are out on the Christmas tree. He chewed through them. We already had been carful with no ornaments low, but he found something. After soldering the wires back together, no harm; however, there were a few moments there where the irritation was high.

They also have to go out…a lot. So if the weather is bad, you are going out too. That’s not too bad in Austin, Texas, but that sounds awful if someone lived in the North.

All that being said, our kids love our new addition and getting him around Christmas was a great early Christmas present. One last comment is to get a puppy from someone highly recommended. Even if the cost is a little higher at the front end, it is our experience that in the long
