Brakes to Go!
Having working brakes on your car is obviously critical. When I started hearing metal grinding noises while braking, my heart sank. Luckily, Brakes to Go got me back on the road in a jiffy!
One of the biggest problems getting your brakes fixed is the amount of time you are stuck at the repair facility. As a busy mom, I dread the prospect of burning hours of my day at an auto garage (or the dealer). Worse off, it’s hard to get an appointment at a schedule that works and guarantees of when they will be done. My husband called three or four brake repair companies and the dealer, and it was going to be a multi-day wait for my brakes to be fixed.
Because they couldn't do our brakes for almost a week, the dealer recommended that we try a mobile brake repair company called Brakes To Go. They are Austin owner-operated, and just like their name implies, they do mobile brake service! Brakes To Go was a dream to work with. They quoted a price for our brake repair over the phone, were able to confirm an appointment for the next day, and only needed the car’s VIN number and our address to get everything started.
On the day of our appointment, Brakes To Go texted that they were on the way and provided an online tracker so we knew when the technician would arrive. In under an hour, the tech had gone on a test drive with my husband and replaced 2 pads and rotors on my SUV. He showed us the other two brake pads, and we decided to go ahead and have those replaced also. All-in-all, the service call took 90-minutes, and was all done in the convenience of our own home!
After driving the next day, the brakes felt spongier to me than I had expected. Brakes To Go sent the same technician back for a quick test drive and inspection, and he explained to us that our new heavy duty pads and rotors had not quite mated yet (I guess they have to wear together to match shapes). He said it would be about 50 miles of driving before the brakes felt perfect, and now they absolutely do.
I’ll admit that we were a bit apprehensive about a mobile brake service. So before we called them, I checked out Brakes To Go on Yelp!: 245 reviews and a 5-star rating. This is one case where that solid rating was well deserved.
