Disney World and FastPass

Disney World can be a stressful “vacation” and having the wrong FastPass can make that much more difficult. FastPass can be obtained “60 days―plus the number of days of your stay―prior to your check-in date” in advance. So make sure you target the exact day to obtain them. Circle it on the calendar. Remember FastPass can be changed so it does not hurt to have them immediately. Note, you probably will not get exactly what you want if you change them. Also remember you are limited to 3 FastPasses.

So what do you get? I would suggest that you check out the Disney World app for your phone and plan the days you are at a certain park. Then look at the middle of the afternoon (or just after lunch) to determine what has the longest wait times. Do not get a FastPass for something that never has more than a 20 minute wait. Reserve the FastPass for things with very long wait times. For instance, at Magic Kingdom: Peter Pan, Dwarves Mine Train, Space Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Tommorowland Speedway, and meeting the “Princesses”. Note that meeting the princess (Cinderella & Rapunzel and Elsa & Anna) at Magic Kingdom is 2 different lines. We prefer meeting groups of characters at the character breakfast, lunch or dinners. The food is not great, but all of the characters come to your table.

In order for the FastPass strategy to work, you must knock out a few of the long-line attractions early in the morning. For instance, if you are staying at a park resort, make sure you get there in the Magic Hours. You can do more in the first 2 hours than a lot of people do all day. So get through security early and be ready to go. Now that sounds like a relaxing vacation right?
