Top Tips for Having Your Dream Wedding Within Your Budget
Every bride worries about the big day—will everything run smoothly? What’s the weather going to be like? Will my groom be there on time? So, when you’re wedding planning, you tend to do everything you can to minimize the stress on the day of—you hire a coordinator, a florist, a DJ, etc. But as a bride, you quickly realize that minimizing stress the day of is directly correlated to the amount of money you can spend. So, you want less stress? That’ll be more money, please. And as every bride realizes at some point during the wedding planning, in order to make the day as simple as possible, you are going to need to cross some of those unnecessary items off your wish list.
But what if I told you that you didn’t have to do that? That you could have everything you wanted in your dream wedding as long as you make two smart decisions before you actually get into the wedding planning? Would you consider it?
The first tip is: when you get married matters.
More than likely, if you are newly engaged, you start to plan when you want to get married. And let me guess when you decide—spring or summer, right? Well, did you know that if you went for a fall or winter wedding your cost would be significantly lower? Most don’t realize that January and February are very low months for wedding venues, so they tend to offer great discounts. A venue that typically costs four to five thousand for your big day in the spring, will only cost you two in February.
Another thing that most brides don’t realize when deciding when to get married is that when you get married in the spring, you will be fighting for vendors. And what does higher competition mean? Higher prices, of course. Did you fall in love with some florist or photographer on Instagram? Yeah, good luck getting them for a spring wedding—more than likely they’ve been booked up a year in advance.
One last thing that most brides don’t realize when they choose a spring wedding—weather and allergy season are often at their worst. You imagine that beautiful spring day with flowers blooming and all of your guests in awe of you and your beautiful day. Well, try thunderstorms or showers throughout the day coupled with sneezing and itchy eyes. Yeah, not exactly what you pictured—but that’s the truth of spring, baby.
The last tip is: where you get married matters.
Every bride knows that where they get married matters—like, duh! That’s the first thing that we all decide, of course. But what if I told you that getting married around large cities can be double what it costs in smaller towns? You want your dream wedding within your budget? Those beautiful venues in Austin, Houston or Dallas will average you eight grand. Which more than likely, will eat up the majority of your budget. Then you’re forced to cut back on flowers, serve appetizers instead of a meal, etc.
But, if you will consider looking into the smaller obscure venues, you will more than likely find a place at a fraction of the cost. Don’t want your family to have to travel? Well, more than likely your family will have to travel regardless—and hotel costs in those small towns is a fraction of what they are in the big cities. Also, vendor prices are going to be equivalent to the cost of living. So not only is the venue itself cheaper, but more than likely the flowers, food, music, photographer, etc. are all at a fraction of the cost as well.
