Family Friendly Breweries in Austin
My husband is a big fan of craft beers. Slowly but surely, I have started to enjoy certain styles of beer myself. Craft beer is booming in Austin. Inevitably, when a family comes to visit us from out of town they want to visit a few of the breweries in town. We have quickly determined which breweries are best for families to visit and spend some time.
Jester King Brewery
As detailed in a previous DuckTV post, this is a great family friendly destination in the Hill Country on the outskirts of Austin towards dripping springs. Set on a large ranch, there is plenty of room for kids to run around and play ball or tag or fly a kite. The brewery offers unique farmhouse style beers and a separate pizza place on site offers great pizza and more conventional beers on tap. You could spend hours here on a beautiful day.
Live Oak Brewery
Live Oak opened a brand new gorgeous brewery out by the airport in 2016. The brewery has a great indoor space but the real attraction here is the outdoor space sprawled out under huge beautiful oak trees. Plenty of grassy areas to have a little picnic. There is also usually a food truck on site. The coolest part is the planes flying directly overhead landing at the airport. It is really neat to look up and see them on their approach to the runway!
Treaty Oak Distillery and Brewery
A 1-2 punch of booze and beer on a large space near Jester King. This place has it all with a playscape, cornhole, and plenty of other games for the kids to play. Food served on site. A great option if someone in the group prefers cocktails.
Pinthouse Pizza
Think about the old school pizza parlors you visited as a kid, with the video games in the corner. Pinthouse is that but with world class beer brewed on site. A family destination, this place gets loud on nights and weekends. But, they have sports on the TVs, quality pizza, and the best hoppy beers in town. Two locations - so it is a little less crowded at each spot.
