I Love Fitbit
I must admit, I love my Fitbit. I used to wear a Garmin when I ran, but now I use a Fitbit Surge as both my GPS watch and as my everyday watch. The gamification of everything includes “competing” with friends and most importantly loved ones.
Does a Fitbit get you going? I think it does. I hate missing my goal of 250 steps an hour and I really hate missing 10,000 steps per day. I find myself running in place or up and down the hall in order to get the steps in. And I’ve run up and down the stairs a couple of times to hit the next goal.
Fitbit also did a great job with milestones. Whether it is walking the length of India or climbing as high as clouds, it is just plain fun.
I have two knocks. My running partner and I both have the same watch and one watch will say someone went 270 feet (of elevation) and the other one will say 1,100 feet. Obviously, something is wrong and we cannot find a solution. Second, the interface with MapMyRun.com is nonexistent. It cannot download the GPS data for runs. I don’t know if that is a MapMyRun problem or Fitbit, but it is highly annoying because I really like tracking on MapMyRun.
