Nonstop to Steamboat
Nothing made be happier than seeing the words…Nonstop to Steamboat…flicker in my inbox one day late last summer. Our dreams had come true. We, now Austinites, can travel to our ultimate happy place in just under 5 hours, door to door. This used to be a well worth it, entire day journey requiring a stop in Houston, Dallas or Denver to get to our second home.
For 8 years now the kids and I have ventured to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We started on a quest to find the most family friendly ski resort which we instantly fell in love with and have returned every winter since. Tucked away in the mountains of Routt County, Colorado, Steamboat Springs is far enough away from the commuter skiers coming up from Denver for the day or weekend but accessible enough to be able to get to with relative ease. It’s changed over the years, has gotten more crowded and more expensive, but it’s friendliness and western ways are still unlike any other mountain town around. Lucky for all those in Austin it’s now more accessible than ever - book a flight on ViaAir to get you there. Just know before you go, there’s no pretentiousness of other resorts, no big nightlife or parties, just an amazing town with incredible outdoor activities and some of the most beautiful scenery around.
