Pelton Bike
We bit the bullet and bought a Peloton Bike. Actually, we bought two (I guess you could say his and hers). If you do not know what a Peloton Bike is, it is a spin bike. It has literally thousands of different classes and multiple live classes each day from the Peloton studio in New York.
After a week having the bike, we love them. The classes last anywhere from 10-120 minutes so there is something for everyone. We have taken classes from several different instructors and one Pro. Each class is something different and none have disappointed yet. I was hoping for a little bit more on the scenic routes, but more on that in a second.
We bought two and I am glad we did. It is expensive to have the two bikes, but while moving around the seat and handlebars is not particularly difficult it is a pain. Speaking of expensive, there is also a subscription fee for the classes. It is $39/month, but if you are going to a spin studio, that is the equivalent of approximately two classes. Speaking of the subscription, that is one knock. Without the subscription there is not much else you can do with the bike because the screen cannot be used for other video.
I was really excited about the scenic routes. They are pretty, but they are just a video for a period of time going through the location. I was hoping for some kind of interaction where the route would change based on your speed and the resistance would be recommended based on the grade.
One other thing that would be cool would be to have actual competitions/races. They have the gamification nature for each classes, but it would be really cool to race folks on either a scenic route or just a course. I’m guessing they could do that.
All in all, while expensive up front, we love these bikes.
