San Antonio Visit

May 30, 2016 | by Anne | 1 Minute Read

So what to do in San Antonio? Of course there is the River Walk and the Alamo. Those are can’t miss attractions. A bit of advice if you go in summer. Even if you are used to Texas heat, the San Antonio boat cruises are HOT. You bake in the sun. They are a great way to travel the River Walk, but be ready to melt.

But, what if you have done that before?

SeaWorld is a wonderful day adventure. The Shamu show is fabulous. It is amazing how large those whales really are. In addition, they have a trained animal show that was hilarious and impressive. I have never seen trained mice. But the dogs and cats steal the show.

One thing that is a little off the beaten path is the Mission Trail. These are missions that were built in the 1700s (mostly). The last one on the trail is the most famous of all…The Alamo. We started on the southern most mission which is Mission Escapada. It is mostly in ruins; however, the operating church is very pretty. Next is the Mission San Jose. This one is also mostly ruins except for the church. I would skip it if you do not have time. Next is Mission San Juan. Do not miss this one. It is very well preserved and very large. You can really imagine what it was like 250+ years ago. By this time if you have little kids or are just bored, skip to The Alamo. Note that you can walk, bike or ride between the missions. It would be a long way to walk. We drove and it does not take you through the prettiest part of San Antonio.
