Two Types of Vacations

April 09, 2018 | by Rajal | 2 Minute Read

In my opinion there are two types of vacations. There are the ones where you get a hotel in a big city and spend all day sight seeing and doing touristy stuff. Then there are the vacations where you go to a smaller town and just relax. You spend all day on the beach or hiking.

For spring break this year we did a little bit of both. First we rented a house with some friends in Stinson beach. We had the best time sitting around on the beach and hiking. It was an amazing time to relax and forget about everything, the days went by so fast and once it was over no one wanted to leave. After that we went in to San Francisco for a few days. Being in the city was just as amazing but so different. We didn’t sleep in until noon but we got to do and see so many amazing things.

I’m sure by now everyone knows which kind of these vacations they like better. I’m sure there is one that you will always lean towards but it might be good to try the other one. If you love big city vacations think about how nice it would be to not worry about what you’re gonna do that day and instead sit in the beach all day or explore the wilderness on a long hike. Or if you are the one who always sits around on vacation then consider a big city vacation. It might be fun to go and see one of those big cities, famous statues and monuments, and so much more. Everyone loves vacations and so they want to do it their way, but it might be good to change things up every now and then.

If you do decide to take my advice and try something new here are a few things you can do in each situation.

If you are doing a lazy vacation consider beaches, hikes, other outdoor activities, wine tastings, or anything else that helps you relax. Even if that means sitting around in a house with some friends all day. It’s ok to sit around all day because it’s meant for relaxing and forgetting about your real life that you will eventually have to get back to.

If you want to take a big city touristy get away then do the touristy things, see the big monuments and museums. It might take a little research but find the best things to do, figure out what makes that city so great and do them. You might have to get up a little earlier but you have to remember you are doing it for the experience, all of the things that you can’t do back home, trying to figure out why people love that city so much.
