US Open - Tennis

October 01, 2018 | by Anne | 1 Minute Read

If you are a tennis fan, I highly recommend going to the US Open in New York.  First it is great tennis because it is a major.  Second, it is great because it is an open so you can see some folks that are up and coming.  All of the tennis is very high level.

I highly recommend going for the middle weekend of the tournament.  That way you should see a bunch of seeded matchups.  Hopefully there will not have been any upsets so the top seeds will still be around.

We were there for the middle weekend of 2018 and we saw 5 sessions.  In those 5 sessions we saw Rafa, Fed, Novak, Delpo (twice), Serena (twice), Venus, Kyrios, Maddie Keyes, Sloan, Maria…pretty much everyone.  It was phenomenal.

For us the key was seeing matches on Arthur Ashe.  That is where the big names will play.  The tickets are more expensive, but for us they were worth it.  You also get general admission to all of the other courts except the big ones.  That way you can see other matches and doubles which is fun to watch too.

How do you choose your tickets.  I highly recommend the lowest level.  Although you have to turn your head back and forth you are close to the action.  Also, if you are going to a day session, get tickets on the chair umpire side of the court.  The reason is that if it is sunny, the chair umpire side is the shady side.  It is not shady all day, but you get quite a bit.

If you are a tennis fan, don’t miss the US Open!
